A van is Barcelona has been deliberately driven at people in one of the city's top tourist attractions Las Ramblas. It was driven along the pedestrianised area, which was packed with tourists, around 17:00 Spanish time, yesterday.

Thirteen people died and over 100 have been injured, with those affected coming from 18 nations.

The driver managed to escape on foot as police search CCTV to determine where he went and to identify him. Two others have been arrested in connection with the attack, which Islamic State have claimed responsibility for.

In a second incident, Spanish police say they have shot and killed four terrorist, just seventy miles from Barcelona in the town of Cambrils, south of Salou. Spanish TV station Ser said four suspects were killed and another arrested in the town.

It is claimed they were wearing explosive vests.

Further south an explosion resulted in another death in Alcanar, which police believe was carried out by the man who drove the van in Las Ramblas, 124 miles away.

Europe has been targeted by terrorist on a number of occasions lately. Three attacks in London, one in Stockholm, Paris, Nice and Nantes have all suffered at the hands of Terrorists.

People are demanding that the governments do more to protect them. They want to see known terrorist sympathisers and those that preach hatred, deported or jailed.

One thing is certain, the people in power must act soon. Our thoughts are with the people of Spain and those affected by the incidents.
