Things Are Just Clamtastic At Jomtien Beach
Most people come to Pattaya for the sun, the beaches or the nightlife but it appears that some come for something completely different. Clams! Yes people actually visit Pattaya and in particular, Jomtien Beach, for the clams.
Collectors flock to the beach in search of the clams, either to eat or to sell on at markets or wherever there are people interested in purchasing the delicacies.
Local fisheries Chairman Thawatchai Prakongkwan said those collecting the clams are doing no harm to the fishing industry as the lifespan of a clam is particularly short.
Apparently, before the 2004 tsunami, Pattaya did not have any clams but the giant waves brought the creatures in from Andaman Sea.
So if clams are a favourite food source of yours, you know where to head to.
