More Than Half Of Pattaya's CCTV Cameras Don't Work

It was revealed today that more half of the CCTV cameras across Pattaya are not working, leaving many areas, not covered.

In a bid to improve functionality, the council want private businesses to install their own cameras, so that the city enjoys superior coverage than it does at present.

It is claimed that only 900 of the 2112 installed cameras are actually operational, with everything from electrical faults to fires being blamed for the lack of video coverage..

With money being tight, the council are seeking the assistance from the private sector to install and maintain cameras because figures show that 95% of privately owned cameras are fully operational.

There had been plans to install cameras at Bali Hai and Naklua areas but due to financing restraints, the scheme has been cancelled.

The local police rely heavily on CCTV to collect evidence, which if so many camera are faulty, will be increasing frustrating for the law enforcement officers.
