Man And Son Electrocuted In Rayong
An Australian man and his young son have died in Rayong Province as they tried to fix a water pump at their swimming pool.
Andrew Fenwick, 66, and son Jason, 10, were electrocuted whilst working on the water pump in a storage room close to the entrance of their property in the Muang area.
Both bodies were found in the vicinity of the water pump.
Police said they found Mr Fenwick clutching a wrench and his son's left hand clinging to an iron gate.
Police believed they lay dead for three hours before they were summoned.
They believe the father was electrocuted as he attempted to repair the pump and that Jason rushed to help him, he too was killed. The authorities will carry out a full postmortem in due course.
Mr Fenwick's wife, Somrudi, 41, was not at home at the time of the accident. She rushed home when a neighbour called to inform her of the dreadful happenings.
The alarm was initially raised when a security guard spotted a four-year-old boy running from the house saying his father was dead. The boy was Justin, the younger brother of the deceased lad.
Mr Fenwick was a retired engineer and moved to Thailand where he met and married his Thai wife Somrudi.
Our thoughts are with Somrudi and friends of the family at this sad time.
