Thailand's government have taken another step towards managing the press with their "Agreement of Truth" policy, which is aimed at the country's media to ensure they act responsibly by following an imposed code of practice

Any agreement will require approval from the various political parties before going live, however.

The agreement will also help protect the media from interference, ensuring freedom of the press too.

The government claim that the media are being manipulated into providing politically biased information, which divides society.

It is being reported that the government want to oversee the media and what it publishes. They want a handle on the press and its operations.

There is much for officials to consider before they pass their plans into law but it goes without saying that the people do not want a North Korean state in Thailand.

Thailand is after all, known as the land of the free and that is the way it should remain.
