Thailand's Women's Volleyball Team Defeat China At Asian Championship
The Thai women's volleyball team beat China at the Asian Championships in a top eight play-off match in the Philippines. The ladies won by three sets to two in a thrilling match.
Thailand won the first set 25-22 before losing the second by the same score. In the third they the won 25-16 but again the Chinese pulled it back to parity with a 23-25 margin before the Thais took the final set 15-12.
Hattaya Bamrungsuk made 19 points for Thailand, while Ajcharaporn Kongyot and Chatchu-On Moksri each had 18 markers.
Skipper Pleumjit Thinkaow and Wilavan Apinyapong, who came off the bench, combined for 22 points in a match that lasted over two hours.
Their next match will see them face Japan, with both nations tied at the top of their group.
The match will be played today (Monday August 14) at 14:00 Thai time.
