Fire In Walking Street Damages Iron Club
A fire broke out at one of Walking Street's top clubs yesterday afternoon, which has sparked an investigation.
An air-conditioning engineer told how he was hired by the Iron Club in Pattaya's most famous tourist zone, to clean the air-con units. As he progressed with his work, he told how he spotted a fire in another air-conditioning unit in the venue, which he said looked like it was caused by a short circuit.
He tried to smother the fire using a fire extinguisher but the flames spread faster than he could handle.
Three fire engines were summoned to deal with the fire as Banglamung District Chief Naris Niramaiwong and head of the local police force Apichai Krobpetch looked on, along with many tourists.
The engineer was taken away for questioning.
The report did not mention why the engineer was taken into custody nor did it mention the amount of damage to the building.
