Beach Clean Up As Homeless Are Moved On In North Pattaya
A one hundred metre stretch of beach in North Pattaya, has undergone a clean up operation as a group of workers arrived cleanse the area.
The problem appears to have been caused by a number of homeless people using the beach as a temporary home, which resulted in sanitary issues.
Workers were dispatched to remove garbage and human waste, whilst reports claim there was evidence of drug use, determined by certain accessories found in the vicinity.
Squatters made use of the beach when it was sealed off to undergo a sand filling operation. With no tourists in on the stretch of sand, they soon descended on the location and set up home. Delays in completing the project, meant that homeless people could take over the huts of the workers, which had no toilets or showers.
The authorities ordered that the huts be dismantled and security guards installed at the site to ensure there would be no repetition of the problem.
But the nuisance will not go away. The powers that be have simply moved the homeless from the beach to another location, where they will become a headache for other residents elsewhere. A long term solution is required to get the people off the streets or in this case, beaches. Possibly homeless shelters or other forms of accommodation before the squatters could end up at yet another tourist attraction.
