Four Dangerous Men Escape From Cell In Nakhon Si Thammarat

Police are searching for four men who escaped from a prison cell in Nakhon Si Thammarat on Thursday evening around 23:00.

One of the four men is a convicted murderer and considered to be a risk to the public.

The four were being held in a cell at Muang Police Station. Officers were placing another prisoner in the cell, when they attacked him before fleeing the scene.

They were being held on suspicion of drug offences at the time.

The police named them as Yamin Chan-uthai, 19, Chalermphon Chanyang, 27, Santi Chanachai, 28, and Pongpan Phokhasawat, 37, who all come from Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Pol Col Adisak Theppawan, Chief of Muang police, ordered an immediate hunt for the men, which commenced by searching relatives homes but to no avail.

On Friday morning he called a meeting and ordered that priority was to be given to catching the men, especially Santi Chanachai, the convicted murder.

Police warned the public not to approach them but to call the police immediately instead.

They have also asked the families of the escapees to assist in their capture.

An investigation is underway to determine how the men were allowed to escape, what should have been a secured area.
