Today's Football Titbits
Liverpool are said to have rejected a bid of 100 million euros (£90m) from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazilian playmaker who is 25-years-old, has attracted interest from the Spanish giants after they sold fellow Brazilian Neymar to French side PSG. The sale netted the club a world record transfer fee of £200m last week.
This latest bid from Barcelona is their second attempt at tempting Liverpool to part with their star asset.
However, if the English side have any ambitions to climb back to the top, in terms of European football, they should be aspiring to retain their top players, irrespective of the money on offer.
In fairness, the club has stated repeatedly, that the player is not for sale.
Six goals from five different players saw Rangers coast by Dunfermline in the Scottish League Cup. Goals from Miller, Alves, Tavernier, Candeias and a brace from Morelos took the Ibrox club into the next round, where they travel to face Partick Thistle. Celtic the holders, visit Dundee, whilst Motherwell will host last season's runners-up Aberdeen. In the other tie, Livingston play newly promoted Hibs. Manchester United's American owners will earn a whopping £56m by selling just just 2% of their shares on the New York Stock Exchange.
Once the sale is complete, Manchester United will not receive any of the cash from the deal.
