QR Codes Will Soon Be Available In Shops And Bills
QR codes could soon be used in every day circumstances across Thailand.
Businesses throughout the Kingdom will introduce electronic payments via banks as the Bank of Thailand lead the way and announce a standardised QR code system later this month.
QR codes are less expensive to manage than the popular card systems. It is believed that forgery is near impossible and fraud is very rare with payments using the QR code system.
It does not mean the end for credit and debit cards however, as not everyone has a smart phone, which is required to make use of the new system.
The system is easy to use. All the user has to do is scan the code with their mobile device and a payment is made. Water and electric bills can be paid without stepping outside.
QR code is an abbreviation for Quick Response code and is a type of bar code, which was originally designed for the automobile industry in Japan. However, due to its fast readability, it soon caught on in other areas of business.
QR codes certainly seem to be the way of the future, for the time being at least.
