Two Thai Students Win Prestige Prizes At Microsoft Event In California

An 18-year-old Thai student has been named "The Best in the World at PowerPoint" at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship, which was held in the United States last week.

Pattarapong Tantikowit, a computer science student at Rangsit University won a cool 232,000 baht for creating what Microsoft considered to be the "world's best slides".

The youngster waved the Thai flag on stage after winning his award and said he was beaming with pride. Beforehand, he was terrified of not winning any awards but his talent earned him the top prize in the PowerPoint Category.

Incredible he was not the only person from Thailand to lay claim to one of the prestige awards. Sarawut Khamset, took second place in the Excel competition, receiving 116,000 baht in the process.

To put their achievements into perspective, you have to consider there were 560,000 candidates from 122 nations around the world. They entered the competition in California hoping their skills and talent would win them some form or prize or adoration for their adeptness with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The event ran over the course of three days. In the final round, competitors displayed their knowledge and ability using the Microsoft products.

Not only did they pair have the honour of winning and of course the prize money that goes with it but they received their awards at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.

A huge congratulations from The Pattaya Visa Shop for the fantastic achievements of Pattarapong and Sarawut.
