ThaiBev Buy 240 KFC Stores

A Thai company known as ThaiBev looks set to invest in the purchase of just under half of the KFC stores in Thailand. The deal thought to be worth in the region of 11.3 billion baht, was revealed on the stock exchange in Singapore, according to Thai Visa.

They plan to take over 240 of the fast food chain's store, previously run by Yum Restaurants, in what was described as a "business expansion" by a ThaiBev spokesperson.

With 600 stores in Thailand, KFC is big business, and would appear to be a good deal for the Thai company.

ThaiBev is the nation's largest beverage company. Founded in 2003, they brew "Chang Beer", one of the most popular beers in Thailand.

However it is unlikely that Pepsi or Sprite will be replaced by Chang in KFC stores.
