Nine-Year-Old Girl Saves Two Young Swimmers
A nine-year-old schoolgirl has been praised for her bravery after saving two youngsters from drowning. The first rescue was at a hotel in Pattaya.
Lakeisha Saynam Nealon, from Bolton in England, swam to the rescue of a child, aged four, after the girl's armbands slipped off. Despite being pulled under the water by the panic stricken youngster, Lakeisha successfully got her to safety.
A few days later, the girl repeated her heroics when visiting family in Beung Kan Province.
Lakeisha's father Ian, had spotted a young girl stumble over a barrier, falling into the pool. He dived in to rescue the kid but he was too late, for his daughter was there before him to save the child.
The first incident occurred at the Sutus Court Hotel in Pattaya where Lakeisha was holidaying with father Ian and mum Sumran.
The brave youngster said “The first girl was dragging me down because she was scared and I managed to get her up and the second girl was scratching and kicking because she did not know what was going on. I managed to get her to the barrier.
“I was a bit scared at first but I know I am a good swimmer”.
She continued to explain how she takes swimming lessons and how important it is for children to learn to swim. She now plans to obtain her lifesavers certificates.
Her dad, 48, said "We are so proud of her.
“She did not panic and stayed calm throughout even when she was being dragged under.
“The girl who lost her armbands went down like a lead balloon and Lakeisha went down to get her.
“Her father, who was Norwegian, came to me afterwards and said she was brilliant – she saved his daughter's life.
“Lakeisha was amazing. She is a very confident swimmer – she will either go on to be a lifeguard or a swimmer. We cannot get her out of the water.”
Thanks to Lakeisha's bravery and swimming abilities, two little girls lives were saved. And to think the heroine is only nine-years-old.
