How About This As An Alternative Mode Of Transport To Beat Traffic Jams

Fed up being stuck in traffic or being almost killed by motorbikes riding on the pavements when you are heading to work?
Benjamin David, 40, from Munich in Germany, was disillusioned by commuting to work every day, being squashed against other passengers on a bus or train or finding himself in endless traffic jams.
So he came up with the idea of swimming to work, making use of the River Isar, which passes by his home.
He places his suit, laptop, mobile phone, towel and shoes in a waterproof bag, wades into the river and calmly swims to work, which is about two kilometres downstream.
David came up with the idea as he watched the river flow past his apartment. Realising it went more or less to his place of work, so he decided to give river travel a go.
That was two years ago and he still enjoys his daily swim to work.
When he arrives at his work location, he leaves the river, dries off with a towel, dons his suit and prepares for his days work.
Incidentally, his orange bag is designed with buoyancy in mind, so it helps him float, should he feel the urge just to gently flow down the river. He describes his mode of travel as "relaxing" and so much better than other means of travelling to his workplace.
Oddly enough, the craze hasn't caught on in Germany or any other city in the world for that matter. Benjamin advises that anyone contemplating mimicking his travel mode to check water temperatures, tides if near the sea and of course weather conditions. We don't see this ever catching on in Bangkok due to monitor lizards and goodness knows what else found swimming in the murky depths of the Chao Phraya River.
