Students from Chiang Mai's Montford College have taken the honours at the Creative Media Awards at the Panasonic Kid Witness News Content, 2017.
Their winning entry was a short movie based on raising awareness of depression.
Panasonic, operate the event, which is a global video education program, that aspires to bolster creative and communication adeptness by fostering teamwork via video production. The competition is open to children from primary and secondary school levels.
The event this year featured 26 candidates from 18 countries and was held at the Panasonic Centre in Tokyo.
The Montford College entry "Dead End" was based on a true story, originally presented on a girl's Facebook page and her blog. The girl known as Jomtian Jansomrag, suffers from "Paranoid Schizophrenia" and depicts her struggle to get through basic daily routines.
She slips into deep depression, sleeping to escape the dark places of her mind. Despite medication, suicidal tendencies are never far away from her thoughts.
The touching film gives a good insight into what its like to suffer from clinical depression, in a brief but honest view.
Congratulations to the kids for their winning movie. Watch the video below.
