Two Escape In Ayutthaya Drug Smuggling Bid

Two vehicles failed to stop at a checkpoint around 22:00 on Thursday night, resulting in officials giving chase.

The drivers abandoned a pick-up and a Mitsubishi SUV on the Asia Highway in Ayutthaya, fleeing on foot into the darkness.

When the officials inspected the vehicles, they soon discovered why the men fled, for the SUV contained over 4.5 million methamphetamine pills, whilst the pick-up revealed another 180,000 tablets.

It is unclear if the police have any leads on the drivers' identities yet.
