Illegal Casino In Pattaya Busted
Pattaya police and military carried out another successful raid on what was described as a "casino operating openly" in Jomtien Beach area of Pattaya.
Bang Lamung's District Chief Naris Niramaiwong, ordered the raid, which follows the recent bust involving a group of grannies playing the Thai card game Dummy at a house in Pattaya.
This so called casino was surrounded by officers, yet many managed to escape by fleeing and scaling walls or running through adjacent property. Those who were caught were women or those who were too old to escape.
In total, 33 people were arrested for playing "Pok Deng", which is a Thai card game.
Apparently this is the second occasion that the premises has been raided since April.
It is alleged that the business had a turnover of 14 million baht and operated 24 hours per day.
The chief said that the campaign against gambling dens would continue for the foreseeable future.
