Man Tries To Revive Friend By Burying Him In Sand
When a man discovered his colleague lying unconscious on a building site where they were employed, he believed he had suffered an electric shock.
But rather than call the emergency services, he followed his instincts and buried him up his neck in sand, which according to local beliefs, would revive him.
It was only when the "old wives' tale" was unsuccessful, that the man took the standard option and called for medics.
When the ambulance arrived, they attempted the more conventional method of resuscitation, CPR, but by then it was too late and the man was pronounced dead.
The deceased was named as Sakon Chaodorn, 40, from Udon Thani.
The unusual incident, happened at a construction site in Chonburi, where the men were employed to extend a department store.
The story, originally found on Thai Rath continued to explain how Sakon had blown his wages on a drinking binge and couldn't face going to work on the Monday.
When he arrived for work on Tuesday, Khanom Yotchaiphoom, 56, saw him stagger and fall. Believing he had been electrocuted, he began to bury him as per the parable, probably passed down through generations.
Police found no injuries to the body and are awaiting on a post mortem.
