Road Rage Swordsman Gets 500 Baht Fine

A man who gave himself up to police following a road rage incident involving a sword, has been fined just 500 baht.

Khanthawut Sakhornsukhon, 31, was charged with having a weapon in a public place and causing annoyance to others by Chonburi police.

A video of the incident, shows him opening the door of another vehicle and fighting with the driver. He then returns to his car, a black Vios, to get a sword from the back seat.

At this point, the terrified driver of the other vehicle fled.

The whole thing happened in broad daylight outside the Sri Ayudhya Bank (Krungsri) in Setthakit Road in the Muang area of Chonburi.

Fined 500 baht, the offender apologised for his behaviour, advising others not to mimic his acts. He then returned to work at his auto parts business.

The fine seems ludicrous when you see others being fined thousands for petty offences but here we have a man carrying a lethal weapon and apparently willing to use it. What if the man he was arguing with did not flee the scene upon spotting the sword?
