Comedy Of Errors In Trat

You have to laugh at some of the comical things you come across or read about in Thailand and often wonder if someone is setting you up.

But imagine driving along a road, when suddenly you are faced with a power pole sitting in the centre of the street obstructing your journey.

The story broke on two Thai media outlets, which display a photo of the said pole in the middle of a recently created narrow road and a woman staring at it in bewilderment.

Thai Visa, an English based news agency commented that no one mentioned it was dangerous to traffic, in the original stories.

The offending pole is in the Trat Province, in the east of the country.

But the hilarity does not end there. The local authorities blamed the electricity supplier for the cock up but they in turn claimed they were not asked to move the pole.

But why the road builders continued laying concrete around the pole is anyone's guess.

Another issue for drivers is the fact there is no street lighting so spotting the obstacle in the dark could be a problem. Whether the road remains open to the public remains to be seen. Only in Thailand as they say.
