Hero Saves Two From Canal In Sakon Nakhon
A man in Sakon Nakhon has been hailed a hero after he saved the lives of two others who were trapped in a pick-up as it was being dragged under flood waters.
The incident occurred across from a Toyota sales room where the brave rescuer is employed as a chief mechanic.
Phongphat "Joe" Saengsri, was standing with two others when he was alerted to the men's predicament by the screams of office staff. He looked to see what the fuss was about, spotting the pick-up as it was being swept into a canal or klong near a bridge.
Hero Joe reacted with seconds to spare as the vehicle began to disappear beneath the murky waters.
He shouted at the occupants to open the window but they failed to do, so he began to kick at it, without success. Finally those inside opened the window and the rescue operation could commence.
In dramatic scenes, Joe with the assistance of others, pulled the people free in the nick of time.
The two who had a very lucky escape, were named as Theerapong Thipprawat and Phoomin Phiaphak.
Amazingly some people criticised Joe and his colleagues for his rescue attempts but most were full of praise for the way they they reacted and their decisive actions.
We think Joe and co should be recognised for their bravery.
