Denmark have produced the result of the tournament as they sent six times consecutive champions Germany packing in the women's European Championships in Holland. The holders took an early lead after only three minutes of play from a Isabel Kerschowski strike. The game looked to be taking a familiar route but the Danes fought back to stun the Germans with goals from Nadia Nadim and Therea Nielsen. Despite enjoying most of the possesion, creating numerous opportunities in front of goal, they could not find a way to breach the Danes defence.
It was only the third time in 26 years in the history of the tournament that Germany have lost a game.
England reached the semi-finals with another historic victory over France. The Lionesses had not won against the French in 43 years but a goal in the 60th minute from Taylor sent the French home. England will now face the host nation Holland and Denmark will take on Austria who defeated Spain 5-3 on penalties after extra time.
