Prime Minister Orders Inspection Of 300,000 CCTV Cameras
Anyone who lives in Thailand, will be aware that there are CCTV cameras everywhere. Every shop, bar, street corner appears to have security cameras scrutinising people as they go about their daily business.
It would probably amaze you, just how many times we appear on CCTV during our trips to the shops or when travelling in the car.
Yes the nation loves its CCTV. Now Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, has ordered that every single CCTV camera be checked to test its operability. Yes all 300,000 cameras across the Kingdom are to be given a maintenance examination.
But there is good reason for doing so. The cameras afford the country a fair level of security. It is a preventive measure that may help stop a crime if the crook thinks he may get caught. If a felony is committed, then there is a fair chance it will be recorded on one of the many visionary aids available to the police.
Of course they could also be a major asset to us normal people going about our business. Maybe you need evidence to prove you were not at fault in a car accident or to find the person who nicked your mobile phone from a bar.
The only people who don't want to see CCTV are the crooks.
The Thai government will even fund the purchasing of cameras in some cases, which is ideal for those who maybe lack the finance to buy and install the technology.
