No Swine Or Bird Flu In Thailand Says Prime Minister
Thailand's Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has advises the media against publishing erroneous news regarding the H3N2 virus.
The nation's leader stated there is no known cases of the virus in Thailand and raised concerns that the stories would cause panic amongst the population.
The H3N2 virus is often referred to as swine, bird or avian flu. It is endemic in China, affecting mainly pigs and has been found in Vietnam.
It can spread to humans where infected people will suffer from symptoms similar to other flu strains, such as fever, headaches, a dry cough, chills, vomiting and diarrhoea.
It is contagious and can take up to ten days for the disease to run its course.
The prime minister is eager to get his message across, which is simple. There is no known cases of swine or bird flu in Thailand and that the media should act responsibly by not spreading stories of this nature.
