Bike Rider Killed By Bus In Pattaya
Break failure on a tourist bus resulted in the death of motorbike rider in Pattaya on Tuesday evening.
The bus was travelling from Phratamnak, down a steep hill, when it appears to have suffered brake failure.
Tourists on board were said to be screaming in fear of their lives as the vehicle hurled down the hill towards a busy junction controlled by traffic lights.
The bus failed to stop, knocking down one if the bike riders, trapping the victim beneath it. Two other riders were fortunate to escape as they were shunted away by the force of the impact.
Brake failure has been blamed for the incident but a full investigation is underway.
The junction sits under an underpass, leading to Bali Hai Pier, Jomtien, Phratamnak and the very busy Second and Third roads.
