Thai Police Take Delivery Of New Hand Guns

Whether you are a fan of armed police or not, you will see the police from many countries around the world carrying weapons. In some instances it gives people a sense of security, especially at airports or other known hot spots where terrorists have been known to attack.

In the UK, police have always been gun free with the exception of high risk areas, although armed response teams are often nearby.

In Thailand, every cop seems to carry a weapon but by the end of August they will be armed with state of the art Sig Sauer p320 hand guns. Some 12,500 of the guns are due to be delivered to the police force around the country. The purchase of over 150,000 has been approved by the authorities.

The semi-automatic Sig Sauer p320 is produced in the USA and also in Germany. It has a stainless steel serialised frame fire control unit and the user can change calibre with ease from 9mm, .357 or .405.

It is designed for ambidextrous usage, with many of its features reversible. It can be stripped down without the use of tools for cleaning purposes.

The weapon weighs in at just 833g for the full size version including magazine. It carries a maximum of 21 rounds and has a number of added safety features to reduce the chances of accidental discharge.

The Sig Sauer p320 is used by the police forces around the USA and is without doubt, a very capable weapon.
