Boost For Rubber Industry As Funds Are Allocated From Cabinet
Thailand's rubber industry got a huge boost on Tuesday 25th of July, as the government approved a plan to allocate 1.8 billion baht to promote the use of rubber.
The money will be spent as follows:
1.5 billion baht for the Ministry of Defence
164 million baht for the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives
135 million baht for the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
The Defence Ministry will use their allocation of 1.5 billion baht to purchase rubber mattresses, use rubber in road construction, rice pond flooring and artificial surfaces such as lawns.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports will make use of the financial windfall by allocating funds for floor covering in many sports venues.
Other areas where rubber can be utilised is for the making of rubber gloves for the farming industry.
The move however is regarded as a short term plan as money will be invested to find new methods of using rubber and to increase sales.
