Adobe To Drop Flash By 2020
Software house Adobe Systems have announced it will phase out its Flash Player web plug-in within three years.
When it first came to the fore, Flash was regarded as a must have add-on for your browser, which made it possible to view videos online or participate in online games.
However it was also a source where hackers could infect computers from the code used by Flash and it was soon abandoned by many users and software companies.
HTML5 became a rival and took over from Flash as the popular add-on, with the benefit that the user did not have to install or update their plug-ins.
It is well known that computer giants Apple more or less refused to endorse Flash, offering scathing criticism with regards to the products vulnerabilities and reliability.
Apple refused to support Flash on any of their IOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad, despite complaints from users. However, the late Steve Jobs was entirely correct to protect the companies users from unwanted hacker attacks.
Now it looks like Flash has finally had its day and will no longer be available from 2020.
