Locals Frustrated by Lack Of Progress On Pattaya's Cable Nightmare
Residents of Pattaya are sick of waiting for the authorities to take action with regards to the eyesore that is "The hanging wires" of Pattaya.
The wires of course are telephone and electrical cables, which are unsightly and dangerous. Earlier in the week a man left his home only to be electrocuted by a dangling cable, close to the Banglamung District Chief Naris Niramaiwong's home.
Now it appears that both Thais and expats have had enough and are venting their frustration at the local government.
Pedestrians have to duck and dive to avoid being strangled by wayward cables, whilst watching for motorcycles and holes in the pavements as they traverse the streets of Pattaya.
With the unsightly cables being close to shops and schools, it is only a matter of time before another accident occurs.
A report by MGR Online, said the government had provided 11,668 million baht to address the ongoing problem with the cables but the money covers Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Korat and Pattaya.
Work to place the cables underground is due to be completed by 2021.
