How often have you been in a taxi where the driver is taking you to your destination, whilst holding a phone and using Google Maps as a GPS guidance system? Some will lay the phone on the seat beside them and use an earpiece to listen to voice directions.

Happens a lot in Pattaya that is for sure. But the police may be about to take action after someone took to social media to complain there were fined for doing just that.

Jirasan Kaewsaeng-ek, a spokesperson for the police responded using the same process saying "The driver should give their full attention to driving the car.

"If anyone wishes to make use of their phones GPS, they must use a cradle for to hold the phone".

The driver in question was fined 200 baht.

The same rules apply to using talking on your phone. It is advisable to use a Bluetooth earpiece and a phone cradle.
