Pattaya Suffers Flooding Through The Night

Pattaya has been enduring a fair bit of rain lately but most showers, although somewhat heavy, have lasted only ten minutes or so. Last night, however (Wednesday, 19th of July), saw the precipitation commence after 21:00, which lasted throughout the night, causing problems for motorists, residents and businesses.

Many of us slept through the worst of it but for those who were out an about, there were problems on Sukhumvit Road, Third Road and Khao Talo areas, as water rose to half a metre or so.

Once again, much of the cities drainage system was slow to clear the rainwater.

Traffic jams were aplenty, which caused frustration for many motorists. The heavy rain resulted in cars being stranded in the deluge of water in some areas.

Even the emergency services struggled to make their way around the city in their bid to assist helpless drivers

So far, there have been no reports on the unopened Pattaya Tunnel's ability to deal with heavy rainfall.
