Hotel Demolition Causes Fear Amongst Residents
Residents in a small street in south Pattaya are up in arms as a former hotel is being dismantled.
The company in charge of the demolition have been called "cowboys" by local residents following incidents of corrugated iron falling in the vicinity of peoples homes and nearby hotels.
The Boutique Paradise Hotel, which was illegally extended by the owners is in the process of being demolished but according to reports, the area is far from safe. A court order was issued to have the 13 storey building taken down, as it exceeded height regulations.
Initial complaints were mainly regarding the amount of dust falling from the premises. Now the grievances are more serious, as dangerous lumps of metal fall from high above.
A news team from Sianchon visited the area to see what all the fuss was about. They discovered a large piece of corrugated iron, waving about in the wind precariously, which is supposed to protect passers by.
Another large piece of metal was lying on the road.
Residents expressed their fears that metal could fall causing injury or damage to property.
The demolition process is being carried out by "Tairano Construction Co Ltd". They have signs installed warning people to keep out as work goes ahead.
