Thai Rice In High Demand In Asia
Thailand are negotiating the sale of rice to other Asian nations, to restore their stock levels. The rice is in high demand in the likes of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, according to the Department of Foreign Trade.
Demand for over 400,000 tonnes of rice from these two nations alone, has come about due to droughts and floods, which has damaged their own rice crops.
Thailand are not known to supply either Sri Lanka or Bangladesh but from the Kingdom's perspective, it is excellent news for rice growers and exporters. Normally, these nations would replenish their stocks from Pakistan or India.
The orders could be met by either government stocks or from private companies, as the buyers seek to obtain the best price.
