Pattaya Parasailing Safe Claims Operator
Following the tragic death of Roger Hussey, 71, in a parasailing incident in Phuket earlier this week, a Pattaya operator took to the media to ensure the public his business was100% safe.
Sathian Jakkawamongkhon, said in forty years of providing the service, we have never had a single accident.
Sathian, operates his business from Jomtien Beach and is proud of his safety record. He told reporters that the lines used in Phuket are up to 200 metres in length but he uses lines of no more than 100 metres.
He also informed the press that in Phuket, someone goes up with the customer but in Pattaya this does not happen.
Parasailing is very popular not only in the Jomtien area but on Pattaya Beach, where scores of people take to the air behind a boat, which pulls them along till they are airborne. A rope attached to the customer from the boat, ensures the person does not come to any harm.
In Mr Hussey's case, it appears the safety harness could have been released in mid air.
