Federer and Williams Could Make History At Wimbledon
Roger Federer will face Croatian Marin Cilic in the 2017 men's Wimbledon Final after disposing of Tomas Berdych, the number eleven seed, in straight sets.
The Swiss player beat Berdych 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 to reach the final. Should Federer defeat Cilic, he will create history by claiming eight Wimbledon singles titles. He currently holds seven titles as does Pete Sampras of the United States.
His opponent Cilic, 28, has never won Wimbledon but surely must have a chance against 35-year-old Federer, who last won the title back in 2012 beating Britain's Andy Murray in the final.
The number five and six seeds will meet in the final on Sunday 16th of July. In the women's singles final, veteran Venus Williams faces Spain's Garbiñe Muguruza, a relative novice at 23-years of age. Five times winner Williams at 37-years-old, would become the oldest player to ever win a ladies Wimbledon singles title if she defeats Muguruza. The current holder is Martina Navratilova, who was 33 when she beat Zina Garrison in 1990.
Only Garbiñe Muguruza, stands in her way. She has been a Wimbledon finalist once before in 2015, when she lost to her opponents "sister" Serena.
The pair meet in the final today.
