Supersonic Travel By Magnetic Levitation Could Be Upon Us Soon

Hyperloop One

A company in the USA has completed a successful test of a futuristic transport mode that could change the way we travel.

Known as Hyperloop One, the system uses magnetic levitation to propel a vehicle. In the test, the vehicle reached speeds of 70 mph but the objective is to have the device run at 750 mph.

If this can be achieved journeys from London to Edinburgh would take no more than 54 minutes.

The company have designed and created a pod that can transport people or cargo, inside a low pressure tunnel using a cushion of air. It has been depicted as a combination of Concorde, a railgun and one of those air hockey tables found at amusement centres.

So far the company has attracted investors from America, Dubai, France and Russia.

Hyperloop One is said to be safer than flying, cheaper to build and maintain than a high-speed rail link and uses less energy that a bicycle per person transported by the system.

Is this the future of transportation? Maybe Thailand to China by Hyperloop could be upon us.

Pattaya to Roi Et in 48 minutes or Pattaya to Chiang Mai in just over an hour. Sounds good....
