New Migrant Workers Decree Becomes Law
The new decree that caused thousands of migrant workers to flee the country has become law.
The law went through uncontested in a 177-0 vote yesterday. They were eleven abstentions.
The controversial law has caused havoc amongst the foreign workers in Thailand and this vote will only make matters worse.
The move comes as a surprise, considering the amount of complaints from the private and public sectors.
Many businesses have reported that production has slowed dramatically, whilst rice exporters say they do not have enough workers to load the ships.
So far no one has commented on what effect, if any, this decision will have on neighbouring nations such as Myanmar and Cambodia.
