Emergency Drill Carried Out On Hua Hin Ferry
The Pattaya - Hua Hin ferry was the scene of a dramatic rescue operation as 104 passengers were saved from an onboard fire. Well - OK - It was only a drill to reaffirm commitment to passenger safety.
The fire drill was staged by the Chonburi marine authorities, making use of one of the catamarans, used in the two hour crossing.
The simulation involved 104 soldiers, who acted as stranded passengers.
The exercise took place three miles off the coast of Koh Lan, when a mock fire was staged in the engine room. The captain issued a distress call, which resulted in emergency services being dispatched to the stricken vessel. The exercise proved to be successful and should go a long way to ensuring passenger safety, should a real disaster strike.
